Officers arrested a man minutes after he allegedly tried to rob a York City bank on Tuesday morning, police said, and he's the same man they say robbed another York City bank last week.

Jason Hull was stopped by York City patrol officers a few minutes after Tuesday's 11:16 a.m. attempted robbery of the M&T Bank branch at 800 E. Market St. because he fit the description of the would-be robber, police said.

A bank employee later identified him as the attempted robber, according to Lt. Tim Utley, who supervises the city detective bureau.

Hull, who didn't show a weapon, handed employees a note demanding cash, but didn't get a penny, the lieutenant said.

"They didn't honor his request, so to speak," Utley said, and Hull simply left the bank.

Hull, 34, of 345 E. King St., confessed to the botched robbery and also confessed to robbing the Fulton Bank at 30 S. George St. on Thursday, police said.

He told detectives he has a drug problem, according to police.

Hull was taken to the county's central booking unit and will be charged with robbery and related offenses for the Fulton Bank incident and attempted robbery for Tuesday's incident.

Utley confirmed the York City Police Department has a 100 percent clearance rate for bank robberies in the last five years.
