---Eastern York High School: Joshua Lewis and Alexander Searer for September, and Cassidy Layman and Brooke Keener for October.

RECOGNITION

---Southern Elementary: Librarian Lynn Clements participated in the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Summer Teacher Institute in July. A highlight of the five-day program was accessing historical artifacts about the Battle of Gettysburg.

---Dallastown Area High School: Cadet Lt. Col. Aaron Bentzel, a senior, received the U.S. Marine Corps JROTC Region 1 Legion of Valor Bronze Star for Achievement Award, one of only six awarded in the nation.

---Friendship Elementary: Librarian Anne Bozievich received $1,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation's Local Community Contribution Grant Program, which she used to purchase 38 new research books for the school's library.

---Dallastown High School: Dana Dehoff, vice president of operations at the Manufacturers Association of Central Pennsylvania, spoke to seniors in the Your Employability Skills program.

---West York Middle School: Jacob Whitacre, 11, recently attended The Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., as a legacy participant.

---Southern York County School District: The district won three awards in the 43rd annual Pa. School Boards Association Educational Publications Contest. Two of its e-publications, The Alumni Pride and The Southern Way, won Awards of Excellence, and the district's website, www.sycsd.org, won the award in the Internet/Intranet Website category.

---Spring Grove Area High School: Teacher Brian Hastings recently received FirstEnergy's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education Grant.
