The York City Police Department's front desk will close on holidays starting Nov. 1, according to police.

That means people will no longer be able to walk into the department on holidays and won't get an answer when they call the front desk.

Instead, people should call 911 when they want to speak with an officer, police said.

The decision to leave the front desk unmanned on holidays was made after a study showed a "limited amount of business" at the front desk on holidays, police said.
