A Lower Windsor Township Police officer suffered minor injuries Saturday when he struck a utility pole to avoid collision with a car, according to state police.

Officer Ben Wind was on patrol when he saw a motorist commit a traffic violation and started to pursue. He activated his emergency lights and, while trying to catch up with the vehicle on Long Level Road, attempted to pass a vehicle in his lane of travel.

The driver didn't see the cruiser and started making a left turn into Klines Run Park, said Trooper Adam Reed. In order to avoid a collision with the turning vehicle, Wind veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole.
