Access-York and The Victim Assistance Center, programs of YWCA York, will hold a Domestic Violence Awareness Month kickoff event at noon Thursday at the northwest corner of Continental Square.
The event will include poetry, survivors, performers and the city and county proclamations to end domestic violence. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the York County Administration Center at 28 E. Market St.
Members of the community are invited to show support for the elimination of sexual violence in York County.
There are many other opportunities to participate throughout the month of October. The Purple Ribbon Campaign will be held all month, and ribbons can be picked up at Rutter's Farm Stores, various businesses in the area, and all DVAM events.
