Free music and dancing, free seminars, and a chance to win a grand prize casino trip are just some of the treats in store for baby boomers, seniors and their families at the 10th annual York County 50plus Expo.
The expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hall East at the York Expo Center, and is being presented by On-Line Publisher Inc.
Those who attend can enter to win the grand prize casino trip, which includes roundtrip motor coach transportation for 40 passengers to the Resorts Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City.
Giveaways: "We are also giving away 500 lottery tickets throughout the day at different times," said Kimberly Shaffer, events manager for On-Line Publishers.
"All you have to do is come to the show and go to the booth; it's not something that you have to come to and wait three months to win," Shaffer said.
A new feature at the expo will be Falls Free York, a fall-prevention area with demonstrations, devices, screenings and assessments.
The area was created through a partnership with Falls Free York Coalition and the York County Area Agency on Aging.
Medical help: Three free seminars will cover treatment options for back pain, diabetes survival skills and government updates that affect seniors.
Medical professionals from WellSpan will conduct presentations on joint pain, spinal health and stroke risk in the Health and Wellness Area of the event.
"It is great that the expo has all of these items in one place at one time and there are health screenings going on and it's fun too," said Shaffer. "You can come and spend an hour or you can spend all day depending what you're looking for."
Entertainment: Live entertainment will include ballroom dancing demonstrations as well as performances from Vickie Kissinger, the 2012 Pennsylvania Senior Idol, and the York Little Theatre.
More than 90 exhibitors will display products and services related to travel, housing, nutrition, home improvements, finances, health care and more.
