The Penn State Cooperative Extension in York is planning to spray portions of West Manchester Township to control adult mosquito populations during the evening hours on Tuesday.

The spray will be conducted in the residential and commercial areas in the vicinity of Kenneth Road and Trolley Road, north of Loucks Road and south of Church Road, and in residential areas in the vicinity of Derry Road and Sunset Lane, from Baker Road to Loucks Road, north of Taxville Road.

The rain date for this spray event will be Wednesday.

Samples recently collected by Penn State Cooperative Extension in those areas have shown high populations of mosquitoes that can carry the West Nile virus.

A truck-mounted insecticide will be sprayed in concentrations significantly below that of a commercial insect control product in used in homes.
