A new park bench, part of Giant's Plaza Palooza donation in 2011, has been installed at Lincoln Park by York City employees.

Giant donated $1,000 so Plaza Palooza could offer $1 off admission to anyone who brought 10 plastic bags to the Plaza Palooza events. All bags collected during the Plaza Palooza series were turned over to Giant and used through the company's "bags to bench" program to make a park bench.

Giant has donated $1,000 again this year to offer the same opportunity.

Plaza Palooza, an initiative of Bring On Play (BOP), is responsible for replacing and renovating playgrounds in York's city parks by enlisting the community's support to design, fundraise and build. New playgrounds have been installed at Lincoln, Allen and Westminster parks to date. This year improvements will be made to the playground at Penn Park.

The Plaza Palooza season starts in October and runs through December at Brooks Robinson Plaza at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Here is the lineup of dates and themes for 2012:

All Plaza Palooza events are held rain or shine from noon until 4 p.m. Sundays at Brooks Robinson Plaza at Sovereign Bank Stadium.
