Spraying to control the adult mosquito populations will be conducted Wednesday evening in Manchester Township as part of York County's West Nile virus prevention program.
The spraying will occur in the vicinity of Stillmeadow Lane, between Church Road and Susquehanna Trail North and along Kayla Boulevard and Brandywine Lane. The communities of Penn State Estates, Woodmount Estates, Briar Bend and The Dominion will also be included.
Mosquito samples collected by Penn State Extension staff last week indicated high mosquito populations in the area. The rain date will be Monday, Aug. 20.
In addtion, 18 new mosquito samples recently collected by extension and state Department of Environmental Protection staff tested positive for West Nile. That included five samples in Dover Township, four in York and three in Conewago Township.
