A New Oxford man who police said was drunk and determined to drive wound up getting a ride from state troopers -- to the Adams County jail.

State police said Michael Stauffer, 44, was arrested for alleged DUI and was released from Gettysburg Hospital about 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

Stauffer caused a scene in the parking lot by refusing a ride home from a sober driver, and also tried to get his car keys from another person, police said.

Troopers arrested him again, this time for public drunkenness, and took him to county jail, police said.

As of Tuesday morning, he was no longer in the facility, a prison official said.
