Two York City Police cruisers were damaged early Tuesday morning while parked in the 600 block of West Hope Avenue.
According to police, two officers had parked the cruisers there about 12:30 a.m. while they walked along the 600 blocks of Salem Avenue and West Princess streets.
The officers were looking for the person behind a rash of prank calls to the York County 911 Center, police said. While they were away from the cruisers, both were damaged.
One had a brick or cinderblock thrown through its back window and both passenger-side tires slashed, police said, and the other cruiser had one rear tire slashed.
Witnesses told officers they saw four black males running from the cruisers.
One was light-complexioned and wore and green and white striped shirt; a second wore a red shirt and khaki shorts; and a third was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said. No description was available on the fourth male.
Anyone with information can call police at 846-1234.
