Update: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for York County and the rest of central Pennsylvania, in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.

A cold front will move through the area Friday afternoon that could produce thunderstorms with large hail or damaging wind, the NWS said.

The weather service has also issued a flood advisory through 6:15 p.m. Friday for west central York County because of the possibility of heavy rain in the area.

Scattered thunderstorms will help cool York off Friday afternoon and evening.

Friday will be partly sunny, with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially between 3 and 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The high will be 90 and the low 64, and the area could see up to half an inch of rain.

Saturday will be sunny, with a high of 85 and low around 59, the forecast said. Winds will be from the north at 6-11 mph.

Sunday will be sunny, with a high of 87, the service said. There's a slight chance of showers after 2 p.m., and a higher chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8 p.m. The low will be 67.

Monday will be partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, the forecast said. Monday's high will be 82 and the low 58.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-50s, the NWS said.
