York County Commissioners on Thursday announced the upcoming launch of a redesigned county website intended to improve user-friendliness.

The transition to the new website will occur after the close of business Tuesday, June 19. The website and certain functions may be non-operational for a few hours that evening as the transition occurs.

Features include easier navigation, a new directory of services, called "Quick-Find Services," a searchable database of popular forms, language translation, accessibility for people with visual impairments, a centralized calendar of events, and improved transparency and records availability through a central repository of key financial documents including budgets and audits.

The site will also include election results available from 2006 to current, as well as county commissioners' meeting minutes and agendas.

The new site address will be www.YorkCountyPa.gov. People who go to the old address, www.york-county.org, or have saved department home pages as favorites, should be redirected to the appropriate place on the new site.

The website redesign project was approved by commissioners last year. Most of the $38,500 cost, $30,000, was funded through a records improvement fund that draws from fees paid for filings in the Recorder of Deeds Office.
