Police are looking for the drivers of two vehicles that ran over a 63-year-old woman and then continued on their way Wednesday in Conewago Township.

The North York woman who was struck by the vehicles is in serious condition at York Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The woman had stopped her vehicle on a bridge over a creek on Bull Road at the border between Conewago and Manchester townships about 10:30 p.m., according to Northern York County Regional Police.

As she was getting out of the vehicle, another one struck the vehicle's drivers' side door, sending the woman to the ground in the middle of the road, police said.

The driver of the striking vehicle stopped, and the driver attempted to check on the woman.

Hit-and-runs: As the driver was calling 911, another vehicle ran over the woman and drove off, police said.

Moments later another vehicle ran over the injured woman, police said.

The female driver of that vehicle stopped, got out of her vehicle and went to check on the injured woman.

The driver then got back in her vehicle and drove off, police said.

The driver of the second striking vehicle was a white female with long brown hair. She was last seen wearing flip-flops, a light colored blue or white T-shirt and tan capri length cargo pants, police said.

Lt. David Lash said the driver almost certainly had to have known that she ran over a person before she left the scene.

"She exited her vehicle and saw what she had done," Lash said.

There is no description of the second driver or of either vehicle that left the scene.

Call: The injured woman was taken to York Hospital with serious injuries to her torso and legs. Police did not release the name of the injured woman.

Police do not know what prompted her to stop on the bridge, or why she got out of her vehicle.
