Fares for Rabbit Transit users will increase slightly next month.
The public transportation services' board of directors recently adopted several changes, including a fare increase of 10 cents for fixed routes this year and 5-cent increases in 2013 and 2014.
Starting July 1, the $1.40 boarding fee will increase to $1.50. It'll increase to $1.55 on July 1, 2013, and $1.60 on the same date in 2014.
The plan also includes service changes for all of the York fixed bus routes, including schedule changes, changes to route names, and stop locations, to take effect in October. An exact date has not been set.
Executive Director Richard Farr said the changes will be so extensive that users are encouraged to monitor the website at http://www.rabbittransit.org/ before October to see how the changes will affect individual routes.
One route, a little-used Shrewsbury-to-York route, is being eliminated, he said.
The changes were made in response to ridership numbers and public comment from community members, he said.
