No, it's not "Fantasy Island," but Aviation Days at York Airport.

For Father's Day weekend, York Flight Training will host the fourth annual Aviation Days from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the airport along Route 30 in Thomasville.

"We're expecting a couple thousand people," said Steve Nagorny, York Flight Training's co-owner. "It gets bigger every year. It brings the kids and parents out for Father's Day."

Admission is free, but plane and helicopter rides will be available starting at $25. Food also will be sold, Nagorny said.

He said the event benefits local Faith Flyers, a nonprofit organization that funds flight training for youths.

"We're looking to help promote flying in York County, to get kids interested in flying," Nagorny said. "Hopefully, they have a good time and a better appreciation for flying."

The two-day event includes an open house at the airport and riding on the T-6 Texan, a warbird-style aircraft used during World War II to train U.S. pilots. A B-25 craft, also flown during the war, will be on display, Nagorny said.

Attendees also can get a close look at and learn more about helicopters and antique cars, he added.

"Everyone that comes really enjoy it," Nagorny said. "We have great food and it's a fun day for everybody."
