A teen died Monday afternoon during a crash near his Chanceford Township home.

Shawn Daugherty, 17, of the 12500 block of Collinsville Road, was a passenger in a 1990 Ford Ranger pickup truck that crashed on a private lane about 3:50 p.m., according to state police.

The pickup truck was driven by Fabian Posey, 18, of Red Lion, police said.

One of the truck's rear tires wound up in a rut along the private farm lane, causing Posey to lose control of the pickup, police said.

The pickup went up an embankment and overturned. Daugherty was partially thrown and was pinned under the truck, police said.

Daugherty was pronounced dead at the scene, York County Chief Deputy Coroner Claude Stabley said.

Since the crash happened on private land, state police are terming the crash as a non-vehicular crash.

"So it's classified more as a farm-related crash," Stabley said.

State police continue to investigate the crash, which they said happened on the property of Shawn's neighbor.

No autopsy is planned, according to the coroner's office.
