The Eastern York school board once again will take a look at allowing corporate sponsorship and naming rights within the district.
Superintendent Darla Pianowski will provide the board with previously gathered materials, and a newly formed committee -- consisting of board members Jason Malone, Doug Caldwell and Wanda Miller -- will follow up with neighboring districts and gather information regarding their corporate sponsorship policies.
Board president Mark Keller said the board needs to decide how much or how little they are interested in pursuing this.
"Some schools allow naming rights and others don't," said Keller. "We need to decide what we think is right for Eastern."
Board member Darvin Shelley said he is not in favor of sponsorship.
"This needs to be a reasonable benefit to the school district," Shelley said. "In my opinion, the people, the taxpayers, paid for the gym. Naming rights don't go down well with me."
More discussion on the matter is expected at the board's June 21 meeting.
A year ago, the board received a presentation about naming rights from Market Street Sports Group. The board later decided not to pursue the matter.
