A Dover Township man crashed his car into mailboxes and drove into yards while leading officers on a high-speed chase through a residential neighborhood early Friday morning, according to police.
Michael Jon Reigh, 21, of 3100 Equinox Road, was arrested and charged with drunken driving, fleeing or attempting to elude police and summary traffic citations.
Northern York County Regional Police said an officer spotted a Nissan Altima pull out of the McDonald's parking lot at Carlisle and Fox Run roads without its headlights on about 2:30 a.m..
The officer followed the car, driven by Reigh, to Alta Vista Drive and tried to pull it over after it ran the stop sign at Grenway Road, police said.
But Reigh took off on Grenway Road, went west on Oakland Road and turned onto Solar Drive, police said.
Reigh lost control near the intersection of Solar Drive and Rainbow Road, and the car crashed into several mailboxes and drove through yards along Sundial Road, police said.
The pursuit lasted about 1-1/2 or 2 miles, according to police.
Reigh escaped injury, police said.
