More than 250 people are expected on the York Rail Trail starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, rain or shine, in the 5-mile 11th annual Hunger Walk-A-Thon.

The event supports Jewish Family Services' Project Manna and the Northeast Neighborhood Food Bank in York City.

Walkers will depart from Indian Rock Elementary School and return there around 11:30 a.m.; youths can participate in games arranged by a York College recreation class while their parents and other adults can drink Starbucks donated by a local shop.

Three of the students walking this year are boys who have just become, or will soon become B'nai Mitzvah. As part of their Bar Mitzvah, each is drawing on lessons learned in conjunction with the walk-a-thon and through volunteer work they've done with the Project Manna food pantry.
