One York-area lottery player is $1 million richer. Well, $750,000 after the federal government gets its share of the winnings.

The Powerball ticket for Saturday's drawing was sold at Weis Markets at 2400 E. Market St. in Springettsbury Township.

It correctly matched all five white balls, 06-08-20-42-51, but not the red Powerball, 16, for a second-tier prize. The federal government claims 25 percent of the cash for taxes. Pennsylvania does not tax lottery winnings.

"We're thrilled that a Weis customer purchased a winning million dollar lottery ticket at our (East) Market Street store and are now waiting for this customer to contact the PA Lottery," said Dennis Curtin, Weis spokesman.

The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

If you won: Lottery officials cannot confirm the identity of the winner until the prize is claimed and the ticket is validated, lottery officials said. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The lottery encourages the lucky winner to sign the back of the ticket, call the lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at its headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of the lottery's seven area offices.

Claims may be filed at headquarters from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices.

Since nobody won the big prize on Saturday, the Powerball jackpot has grown to an estimated annuity value of $173 million, or $107.7 million cash, for Wednesday's drawing.
