North Hills Elementary School was briefly evacuated Monday morning for an odor of natural gas inside the school, officials said.

Springettsbury Township Police Lt. Dan Stump said no gas leak was found.

The evacuation began about 10:30 a.m., and students were allowed back inside about 45 minutes later, according to Julie Romig, spokeswoman for Central York School District.

York United fire crews, a Columbia Gas crew, township police and others went through the building, but found no leak, Romig said.

The students are back to their normal class schedules, Romig said.
