The West York school board will vote next week on a rental fee increase for using district facilities that could generate a little more than $11,000 in additional fees.

Business manager George Fike told the board the district is "on the low end of the scale" when compared to other area districts' rental fees.

The proposed changes include waiving only 50 percent of the rental fees for nonprofits instead of 75 percent, increasing the custodial fee from $20 to $30 per hour, adding a field maintenance fee of $20 per day and a LCD projector fee of $20 per day.

These add-ons will not affect the district in-house organizations like booster clubs or PTOs. They are not charged for the use of school facilities.

Board member Todd Gettys said he would like to see an additional category for outside clubs like the West York Boys Club or the Canine Lacrosse Club, whose members are mostly district residents.

After some discussion, most board members agreed determining what percentage of a group was made up of district residents would significantly complicate the process.

The rental fee increases are expected to come up for a vote at the school board's 7 p.m. Tuesday meeting at the middle school.
