him alcohol and provided him with a cell phone so they could stay in contact, the alleged victim testified in York County Court Tuesday morning.

Deputy prosecutor Lauren Carella alleges 41-year-old Kimberly Jo Larkin first had sex with the teen in April 2010, while he was still a student at Paradise School for Boys.

But defense attorney Terrence McGowan argued to jurors the inappropriate contact didn't begin until the teen left the school, and that Larkin was trying to help the youth by driving him around to fill out job applications.

McGowan also portrayed the young man as having exploited Larkin.

Street smart? "He's a street-smart, experienced kid" who told Larkin "this ends when I say it ends" after Larkin tried to break off the relationship, the attorney alleged.

"He tried to extort Kimberly Larkin -- he tried to blackmail her," McGowan said, by taking money in exchange for agreeing to delete incriminating text messages she sent him.

On the stand, the young man admitted he didn't delete those text messages, including a close-up photograph Larkin sent him of her genitals, because he was afraid Larkin would try to "flip the script" and accuse him of rape.

He testified he became concerned about that possibility after he broke up with Larkin in late July or early August 2010. That's when Larkin had a male friend call the young man, pretend to be a private detective and say she could claim rape, according to the teen's testimony.

"She was kind of paranoid I would use (the texts) against her," he said.

'Possessive': The young man said he ended the consensual relationship with Larkin because she became possessive about him texting a girl.

"She was getting real crazy. I guess she was jealous," he testified. "After a while, I got tired of it. ... I just kept telling her (the girl) was a friend of mine, but she didn't believe me."

The alleged victim testified the relationship began at Paradise School for Boys, with the two of them talking, and eventually kissing.

On one occasion, she surreptitiously touched and massaged his penis over his pants during class, even though there were four or five other students in the room, the young man told jurors.

"She grabbed ... can I say it? ... She grabbed my johnson," he testified. "My penis, I guess."

First sex encounter: The young man also said that sometime in April 2010 -- before he stopped attending Paradise School in early June 2010 -- Larkin picked him up from a local mall and drove him to what appeared to be a truck stop.

"First it started with oral sex," he testified. "Then we ended up getting in the back (of Larkin's vehicle)," where they had sexual intercourse, he testified.

The following Monday at school, things were "a little awkward" between them, he said.

"She was my teacher," he told jurors. "She said she thought she was going to be on the breaking news ... (and worried) she was going to lose her job."

He testified he and Larkin had sex on other occasions as well -- at two motels, at her ex-husband's house and at the home of one of her friends, where the teen was allowed to handle a .357 Magnum revolver that belonged to the friend.

He also told jurors Larkin bought vodka on a few occasions and they drank it together.

Cross-examination: On cross-examination, McGowan ripped into the young man's testimony, pointing out inconsistencies between his testimony and his original police statement, including who undressed whom during their first alleged encounter.

"You're making up stories today," McGowan said.

"The facts are the same, the hard facts," the young man replied. "The ones that matter."

The texts: Carella had the young man read some of Larkin's alleged texts aloud from a printout. They included:

* "I love you baby, I really do"

* "We really need to talk. No wires"

* "You could be wired, trying to set me up"

* "Why won't you talk to me?"

The background: Larkin, of Forrest Drive in Gettysburg, is charged with the third-degree felony of institutional sexual assault and the misdemeanors of corruption of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

She worked for Lincoln Intermediate Unit No. 12 for nearly a decade and was suspended without pay after the allegations came to light, an LIU official said.

Although she was employed by the LIU, she worked with students at Paradise School for Boys, the official said.
