Easter festivities

---The Pleasureville United Methodist Church is hosting a puppet show and Easter egg hunt at 2606 N. Sherman St. on Saturday. At 9:30 a.m., children and adults of all ages can learn about Easter through an interactive puppet show put on by the Asbury United Methodist Church players. Immediately following the show, children ages birth through fifth grade can hunt for candy-filled eggs on the church grounds (children under 5 must have adult supervision). Attendance is free, and all members of the public are invited to attend and join in the fun. ---Longstown United Methodist Church, 2975 Carol Road, invites children ages 10 and younger to an Easter egg hunt, 10 a.m. Saturday. All participants should meet in the church sanctuary prior to the bring-your-own-basket hunt.
---Friendship Community Church, 3380 Fox Run Road, Dover, is sponsoring a free community Easter egg hunt with games, crafts, face painting and more at 10 a.m. Saturday. ---The Pinchot Park Lions Club will host an Easter egg hunt for children younger than 12 at 1 p.m. Saturday. Participants should meet at the day use area, on the Route 177 side. The hunt will be held rain or shine. Volunteers will be available to help with parking.
---Shrewsbury Assembly of God, 234 N. Main St., Shrewsbury, will sponsor a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday. The egg hunt is designed for children ages 12 and under and will begin at 11 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, all events will be held indoors. ---Paradise Lutheran Church, 3241 Church Road, Thomasville, Paradise Township, is hosting a community Easter event with Easter egg coloring, lunch, a craft, egg hunts and a visit from the Easter bunny from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday for children up through sixth grade. Each child should bring one dozen white, hard-boiled eggs to color. There will be separate egg hunts for preschoolers and elementary children. ---On Saturday the Markets at Shrewsbury will host its 10th annual Easter egg hunt for children 10 years old and under. Registration is a must; please call 717-235-6611 ext. 100 to register. Or you can register in the market at the front table. The Markets will be closed for Good Friday. Children will be broken down into three age categories: 3 years and under, 4-6 years and 7-10 years. This is a rain or shine event. Bring your baskets and cameras to take pictures with the Easter bunny, who will be on the site from 10 a.m. to noon. ---A community egg hunt, held rain or shine, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1674 Furnace Road, Brogue. For children in sixth grade and younger. The event will feature a short story and a craft prior to the hunt.
---The congregations of Zion United Church of Christ and Cornerstone Baptist Church will hold their annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, on the southeast corner of Penn Park, directly across from the church, located at 100 Lafayette St., York. All children up to 9 years of age will have an opportunity to check out some fire equipment and meet members of York City's Fire and Rescue Department, York's Mayor C. Kim Bracey and, of course, the Easter Bunny. Children should bring their own baskets for gathering eggs; each child will receive a bunny bag of goodies. ---Christ United Methodist Church of Yorkana, 5 Main St., Yorkana, will host an egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday for children ages toddler through 12 years on the church grounds. The event will take place rain or shine. Happy Times Preschool will be holding an open house from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the church. Feel free to drop by to hunt for eggs and then visit the preschool.
DREAMWRIGHTS
Scholarship program
DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre has established a Memorial Scholarship Program in memory of Ann Brougher Noll.
Noll was one of the founding members of DreamWrights, served as the president of the board of directors for two years, and was the executive director until her death in July of 2006. She loved theater and passionately upheld DreamWrights mission to bring theater to people of all ages.
Throughout DreamWrights' history, Noll's father and his wife have provided support through the W. Dale Brougher Foundation and continue to be DreamWrights' largest benefactors.
The purpose of this scholarship is to honor a high school student and aid the person in the pursuit of continuing growth and education. Students must be between the ages of 17 and 20, active in the community, and active in theater or another arts program.
Scholarship applications can be found at www.dreamwrights.org. Interested students can submit a completed application up until May 25.
