York City Mayor Kim Bracey has been appointed to serve on the National League of Cities' 2012 Community and Economic Development Steering Committee, which will develop policy positions on issues of housing, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness.

Those positions influence the League's advocacy in Washington, D.C., according to a news release.

Bracey was appointed by NLC President Ted Ellis, mayor of Bluffton, Ind.

"I believe this appointment will bear a benefit to our local York community, as I work with other mayors, elected officials and professional colleagues from across the country to study and learn about best practices in projects, policy and programs that have succeeded nationally and may be applicable locally," Bracey said, according to the news release.
