Ever want to dress up as a blue anthropomorphic mascot? This could be your chance.
The York Revolution is searching for someone to play the team's mascot, DownTown. The team is also searching for people to join the Shipley Green Team, the baseball team's official in-game promotional squad, for home games during the 2012 season, said Staci Wilkenson, director of marketing.
"You're down there on the field. You're interacting with the fans," she said of squad members.
Auditions will be held Saturday, Feb. 18.
Green team applicants must be available for the majority of the Revolution's 70 home games this season, and mascot candidates must be available for at least 60 games.
The home schedule begins May 1 and could last as long as the beginning of October if the team makes it to the postseason.
Applying: applicants must be friendly, energetic, outgoing, dependable, in good physical shape, have reliable transportation to and from the stadium, work well with children and be at least 16 years old.
Candidates for the mascot must be between 5-foot-6 and 6-foot-2 in order to fit into the costume, Wilkenson said.
DownTown candidates will need to perform a two-minute skit during the audition. Props and music may be used, but will not be provided by the Revolution.
Green team and DownTown applicants will also take part in a mock promotion, and team candidates should also be prepared to learn and perform a dance routine on site the day of the auditions.
If selected, members of the team will be paid $7.25 an hour, and the person selected to play DownTown will be paid $60 per game.
Where to go: The auditions for the York Revolution's Shipley Green Team and the team's mascot, DownTown, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Sovereign Bank Stadium, 5 Brooks Robinson Way, in York City.
Anyone auditioning should wear athletic clothing and sneakers.
Those interested in auditioning should contact Staci Wilkenson in the Revolution front office at swilkenson@yorkrevolution.com or at 801-4463.
