JAKARTA, Indonesia—A commuter train collided with a truck hauling liquefied gas in Jakarta on Monday, sending a fireball of orange flames shooting skyward and killing at least two, an official from the train company said.

The accident in southern Jakarta killed a train engineer and at least one other person, said Eva Chairunisa, a spokeswoman for the PT KAI Commuter train company.

Passenger cars were seen lying on the ground while black smoke billowed from parts of the engulfed train.

"The fire is still there while the evacuation is underway," South Jakarta Police Chief Col. Wahyuhadiningrat told El Shinta radio.
