Serbia's public prosecutor, Zagorka Dolovac, said police began carrying out the raids Tuesday in several Serbian towns and cities, including Belgrade, the capital, but she did not say how many of the suspects have been taken into custody.
Hundreds of nationalist rioters stormed the embassy on Feb. 21, 2008, to vent their anger over Washington's support for the statehood of the predominantly ethnic Albanian Kosovo, which had declared independence from Serbia.
One suspect in the attack has been tried for taking part in the attack on the embassy during which one rioter died.
