Signage is up and construction has started on the new Pita Pit set to open in Queensgate Towne Center.

The Lebanese-style restaurant plans to open during the last week of April or first week of May, said company spokeswoman Jennifer Drake.

The Idaho-based chain has received the necessary permits from York Township and is readying a 1,600 -square-foot space next to Pet Valu and Chipotle at 1911 Springwood Road.

With the addition of Pita Pit, the 300,000 square feet of retail space in Queensgate is now fully leased, said David Nicholson, director of leasing for LMS Commercial Real Estate.

It will be the first Pita Pit in York County and the seventh in Pennsylvania.

The restaurant serves "light and tasty Lebanese-style pitas" in a "healthy, fresh and fast" way, according to the company website. Additional menu items include kids meals, salads, soups, smoothies and more.
