Red Lion junior catcher Jonathon Smith has been selected for the Pennsylvania team which will participate in the Big 26 Baseball Classic.

Smith is a 6-foot, 170-pounder who throws right and bats right.

Another York County player was also picked for the team — Red Land junior Eric Dressler, a 5-11, 190-pound outfielder who also throws right and bats right.

District 3 will be well represented on the Pennsylvania team, with 13 of the 26 players coming from the local district.

The three-day series against a group of all-stars from Maryland is scheduled for Metro Bank Stadium in Harrisburg from July 18-20.

Pennsylvania athletes selected for the team participated in three days of tryouts held across the state to earn their spots.

This year's Pennsylvania coaching staff consists of head coach Kevin Manero of North Penn High School, along with assistant coach Rick Harrison of Oley Valley High School and Brian Fili of Strath Haven High School. Those coaches were a part of the selection process.
