Two York College lacrosse players earned Capital One Academic All-District honors on Thursday.
Junior attack Tyler Hutson was named to the 10-player Men's At-Large District 4 squad. District 4 includes all Division III schools in Pennsylvania. Hutson owns a 3.87 grade-point average as a marketing major at York. He is a five-time member of the York College Dean's List.
Hutson helped the Spartans to a school-record 16 wins. York earned a berth in the Capital Athletic Conference championship game for the first time in school history. The Spartans also earned their first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament berth. Hutson finished the season with 65 points on a team-high 52 goals and 13 assists.
Sophomore defender Megan Strauch garnered a spot on the 14-player Women's At-Large Team, which included all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania. Strauch boasts a 4.0 GPA. She is a secondary education–mathematics major. She has earned Dean's List honors in all three of her completed York College semesters. Strauch earned first-team All-CAC honors, helping the Spartans finish 13-3 in the regular season before advancing to the CAC title game for the third straight year. The Spartans also earned their third straight NCAA Division III Tournament berth and advanced to the Sweet 16.
Strauch is one of the top defensive players in the region. She leads the team in ground balls (35) while she is second in caused turnovers (18) and draw controls (34). Strauch was also named to the All-Metro Region first team.
