Maryland head football coach Randy Edsall will join Penn State head basketball coach Patrick Chambers and former Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Kenny Jackson at the 26th annual York County Special Olympics Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, June 16, at Out Door Country Club.

They are among the more than 20 celebrities who have agreed to attend. Additional confirmations are expected in coming weeks.

Among others who have said they will attend are NCAA basketball official Duke Edsall and former NFL stars Maxie Baughan, Scott Fitzkee, Pete Retzlaff, Bruce, Laird, Lou Michaels, Glenn Ressler, Steve Zabel and Stan White.

The Edsalls are brothers and York County natives. Both graduated from Susquehannock High School.

The tournament was founded by George Tarasovic, a 12-year NFL veteran, and Eddie Khayat, the former head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles whose nine-year NFL playing career was highlighted by the Eagles' 1960 NFL title. Both will be participating in the festivities.

The tournament has raised more than $500,000 for York County Special Olympics over the years.

The field has openings for more foursomes, too. The cost per foursome is $1,100. The entry fee includes lunch, golf with a celebrity and dinner. To learn more, call Charles Calkins, 757-7602.

Sponsors include the Victory Athletic Association, the York Daily Record/York Sunday News, Bunzl USA and Conductive Technologies.
