The York College golf team finished fifth at its own Spring Invitational during a cold, blustery Monday at Out Door Country Club.

The Spartans finished with a 310 total. Franklin and Marshall won the event at 290, followed by Eastern (305), Muhlenberg (306) and Dickinson (307).

Matt Storck led York with a 3-over-par 75, finishing tied for ninth, but he played as an individual. Other York golfers playing as individuals were Tyler Keim, 77, tied for 17th; and Alex Colton, 79, tied for 28th.

The Spartans' scoring golfers were: David Boslough, 76, tied for 12th; Anthony Wagner, 76, tied for 12th; Kevin Long, 79, tied for 28th; and Josh Strausbaugh, 79, tied for 28th.

Three golfers tied for medalist honors at 71: Eastern's Logan Maurer, Muhlenberg's Chris DiMaio and F&M's Daniel Furman.

OTHER YORK COLLEGE NOTES

Hill, Hershey honored by CAC: Two York College athletes have been honored by the Capital Athletic Conference.

Sophomore Payton Hill was named the CAC Softball Player of the Week. Hill made an impactful return to the Spartan lineup after missing the first 10 games of the year with a preseason injury. Hill led the Spartans to four wins, hitting .545 with six RBIs, three runs scored, two doubles and a home run in 11 at-bats.

Senior center fielder Andrew Hershey was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week. Hershey powered the Spartans to a trio of CAC wins for the week, hitting .500. He finished the week with eight runs scored, three RBIs, two stolen bases, two walks and a hit by pitch from his lead-off position. He had a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.100 slugging percentage.

Spartans swept in softball: The York College softball team was swept in a doubleheader on Monday by visiting Gettysburg, falling 9-1 and 11-9.

In the 11-9 loss, Katie Maloney (three hits, three runs), Carleigh Ruleman (two hits, three RBIs), Payton Hill (two hits, two RBIs) and Jena Ruby (two hits, two RBIs, one run) paced York's 11-hit attack.

York dropped to 6-8 with the loss. Gettysburg improved to 10-3.
