Red Lion's turnaround season on the wrestling mat continued Monday night at Dover, where the visiting Lions won nine of 14 bouts to pick up a 40-24 York-Adams League win.

Red Lion improved to 4-3 in Division I competition. Following a pair of losing seasons, the Lions are one more league win away from the most single-season wins since 2010-11 (6-4).

Monday's match was much closer than the final score, though, with the host Eagles keeping it close most of the night. Dover's Brandon Rodriguez, a returning District 3-AAA qualifier, wrestled down at 106 pounds and pinned one of the better 106-pounders in the league in Red Lion's Jake Frock to give the Eagles (3-6 division) a 20-19 lead with five bouts to go.

Two bouts later, Dover's Cameron Palmer (120) earned a major decision to pull the Eagles to within 25-24. But the Lions closed out the match with pins from Jesse Stermer (126) and Ryan Sprenkle (132) and a decision by Jac Gemmil (138).

Red Lion also received a pin from Dylan Gurreri (152).
