York High suffered its second-straight York-Adams League Division I loss on Monday night, falling at South Western, 55-52 in double overtime.
The Bearcats, who fell to Central York on Friday, have won five straight Division I titles, and only lost three Division I games during that stretch.
The loss dropped York High to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the division, while South Western improved to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the division.
Brock Geiman scored 17 points for the winners, including a crucial 3-pointer in the second OT. Scott Hess added 10 for South Western, including a 4-for-6 effort at the foul line in the second OT.
After each team scored just three points in the first OT, South Western used a 9-6 edge in the second OT to secure the victory.
D'Montie Shaw led York High with 18 points.
The Bearcats were just 10-for-20 at the foul line, while South Western was 13-for-24. That proved to be the difference.
OTHER BOYS' BASKETBALL
Bermudian Springs 69, York Suburban 36: At York Springs, the Eagles captured a York-Adams Division III showdown. Neil Murren led the way for the Eagles with 32 points, while Alex Orwig and Austin Hartzell added 11 points each. C.J. Boxley's 19 points paced Suburban, while Malique Wise scored 11. The difference in the game came at the foul line. Bermudian was 26-for-37, while Suburban was 9-for-17. Bermudian improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the division, while Suburban fell to 5-2 and 3-1.
Dallastown 52, Spring Grove 45: Dallastown used an 18-11 fourth-quarter rally to down Spring Grove. The game was tied 34-34 entering the final period at Spring Grove. Mike Gibbs poured in 19 points for the Wildcats, including four 3-pointers. Kevin Ludwig added 12 points for the winners. Darin Gordon (18) and Eli Brooks (14) reached double digits for the Rockets. Dallastown improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in York-Adams Division I.
Northeastern 81, Kennard-Dale 37: At Fawn Grove, Kobi Nwandu led the Bobcats by scoring a game-high 14 points. Derrek Hoffman scored 13 for the winners, while Jeff Reynolds scored 10. For the Rams, Ryan Trott scored 11 points. Northeastern had nine 3-pointers.
Hanover 85, York Tech 50: At Hanover, the Nighthawks scored at least 22 points in each of the first three quarters en route to the win. Nick Trish led the winners with 25 points. Jacob Rhodes added 21, while Dylan Krieger scored 18. Argenis Rivera scored 15 points for Tech.
Susquehannock 66, Littlestown 42: At Glen Rock, the Warriors led by 13 at the half and went on to capture the York-Adams Division III victory. Dan Ferraro and Luke Thomas led the Warriors by each scoring 15 points. For the Thunderbolts, Brady Topper scored 13 points.
West York 69, New Oxford 43: At New Oxford, Nick Traettino led the Bulldogs to the York-Adams Division II victory by scoring 14 points, including four from behind the arc. Josh Bailey scored 11 for West York, while Kevin Rice and Chase Neiderer each scored 10. For the Colonials, Austin Kibler scored 15 points. West York moved to 5-0 in the division and 7-0 overall.
York Catholic 78, Fairfield 20: At Fairfield, the visiting Irish scored in double figures in all four quarters to come away with the victory. Matt McKim (11 points), Paul Martello (15 points) and Erich Hartman (17 points) provided the scoring for York Catholic.
