The York College women's basketball team continued its strong start to the 2013-2014 season on Tuesday night.

The Spartans dominated previously-unbeaten McDaniel College, 71-56, in Wolf Gym at the Grumbacher Center.

York improved to 5-0, while McDaniel fell to 4-1.

The Spartans jumped out to a 14-0 lead and were never seriously threatened after that, leading by double figures for most of the rest of the game.

Kristen Haley led a balanced York attack with 12 points. York Catholic High School graduate Brittany Hicks added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Hicks helped York dominate the boards, 49-27.

Kelsey Murphy also had 11 points for the Spartans.

York also excelled defensively, limiting McDaniel to 29.5 percent shooting from the field (18-for-61).

The Spartans did commit 29 turnovers in the game.
