Dane Slenker, Dan Myers and Shirley Rhoads will be inducted into the York-Adams Bowling Hall of Fame on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the York Expo Center's White Rose Room.
Slenker has been bowling in York County for 37 years. During that time, he has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments. He has rolled 19 perfect games, six 299s and a pair of 298s. He owns nine 800 series, including a high of 850. His highest league average is a 235. In 2011, Slenker partnered with Don Smith, Charlie Earnst and Ken Strickler to earn the state seniors scratch team title.
Myers has been an avid bowler for the past 37 years, and he has spent the majority of his career working in bowling centers. At Hanover Bowling Centre, Dan served as a
Rhoads was a very active bowler for more than 30 years. She competed in the Daytimers, Sunday Night Mixed and Monday Night Ladies leagues at Lincolnway, the Mixed Birds League at Weiglestown, Hi-Lo and Junior/Senior leagues at Suburban Bowlerama and the Nut League at Colony Park Lanes North. During that time, Shirley served as president of the Daytimers and Sunday Night Mixed leagues. Big games and high averages were uncommon, particularly for women, when she was at her peak in the 1960s and 1970s. Her personal bests were a 263 game, a 635 series and an 181 average.
