The York Sports Night Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations for the York Area Sports Hall of Fame.

The committee is looking for outstanding athletes, coaches or other individuals who have spent at least 10 years of their lives in York County and have contributed to the betterment of York area sports community.

The following criteria should be met before nominating any individual:

---1. For athletes in sports generally thought to have limited career spans (baseball, basketball, football etc.), he or she must be finished with the playing career for which the athlete is being nominated.

---2. For athletes in sports commonly thought to be of the lifetime variety (golf, bowling, hunting, fishing etc.), an athlete must have achieved a clear level of excellence over an extended period of time -- not less than 10 years -- and be at least 45 years of age.

---3. For coaches and those deemed contributors, patrons and otherwise outstanding supporters in the cause of York County sports, the nominee must have achieved a clear level of excellence over an extended period of time -- not less than 10 years --- and be at least 45 years of age.

---4. In all cases, the nominee must have made a significant accomplishment or impact at the high school, college, amateur or professional level.

---5. In all cases, the nominee must have some clear and defined connection to York County -- he or she must have participated in York County sports or contributed in some way to the betterment of the sports community.

Hall of Fame applications can be obtained at the Hall of Fame Center, 224 N. George St., or by contacting Charlie Jacobs at 717-683-4992. Nominations must be received by April 1.

Those selected will be inducted in early May at the Hall of Fame Center and introduced at Sovereign Bank Stadium.
