Central York High School graduate Aurielle Mosley has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Mosley is a senior 6-foot, 2-inch forward for Millersville (6-1, 3-1 PSAC). It's the second time she's won the honor in four weeks.
Mosley averaged a double-double (14.5 points, 10.5 rebounds per game) in two outings this week, helping the Marauders secure a 1-1 week. The team fell to No. 8 Gannon in overtime, 78-76, and bested Mercyhurst 68-53. Against the eighth-ranked Golden Knights, the senior captain dropped 21 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the floor to go along with nine rebounds, two blocks and a steal. In the second game of the back-to-back games, Mosley had eight points, pull 12 boards, two blocks and two steals.
In blocking four shots total for the week, Mosley moved into first place on Millersville's career blocked-shots list with 201. It took Mosley 19 less games to reach the record than previous first-place holder Shelly Bowie, who recorded 200 in 110 career games. The York native has played just 91 career games.
The career blocks record is the second career milestone of the season for the Mosley who scored her 1,000th point in the first game of the season against Wilmington (Del.).
