Northeastern jumped out to a 7-1 lead after four innings and then held on for dear life to earn a 7-6 baseball victory at Kennard-Dale on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rams battled back to within 7-6 and had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Northeastern reliever Steve Shimkus got the final batter to hit into a 6-4-3 double-play groundball to end the game. Shimkus pitched one inning to get the save, allowing no runs.

Josh Writer pitched six innings to get the win, allowing four earned runs. He struck out four and walked one.

Jesse Sargen had two hits, including a homer, with two RBIs and two runs scored for the winners. Nick Yinger doubled for the Bobcats.

K-D's Jason Cooper had two hits, including a homer, to go with three RBIs and two runs scored. Collin Crowell also had two hits for the Rams.

Northeastern improved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in York-Adams Division II. K-D fell to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the division.

OTHER BASEBALL

YORK CATHOLIC 8, DELONE CATHOLIC 3: At York Catholic, the home team erupted for six third-inning runs to take control. York Catholic pounded out a dozen hits and had five batters collect two hits apiece -- Patrick Clement, Josh Elsen, Mark Burnside, Clint Bohn and Joe Rost. Burnside and James Dougherty had two RBIs each, while Jake Krevetski and Rost each scored two runs. Rost doubled and Dougherty tripled. Burnside got the win on the mound, allowing two earned runs over 51/3 innings. Krevetski closed the game, allowing one run over 12/3 innings.

WEST YORK 12, DOVER 2: At West York, Brandon Kinneman pitched a complete-game for the Bulldogs, scattering nine hits.. He struck out eight and walked two. Jerrin Toomey had two doubles and two RBIs for the winners, while Brock Gladfelter added two hits and two RBIs. Cole Bixler chipped in two hits, including a double, and an RBI, while Brett Kinneman added two RBIs. West York leads York-Adams Division II at 4-1.

SPRING GROVE 12, RED LION 6: The visiting Lions scored five runs in the top of the sixth to pull to within 9-6 but the Rockets scored three in the bottom of the frame. Spring Grove's Levi Krause (2-1) picked up the win, holding Red Lion to one run on seven hits with no walks and a strikeout in five innings. Krause also went 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs and a run scored. Drew Landis (2-for-4, two RBIs, two runs) paced the Lions. Spring Grove (4-2 overall) is alone in first place in York-Adams Division I at 4-1. Red Lion (3-2 overall) is 2-2 in the division.

HANOVER 10, YORK TECH 9: The host Nighthawks scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win it. Hanover's Ryan Bowman (2-for-3, two RBIs, two runs), Nick Trish (2-for-4, RBI, three runs) and Spenser Durika (2-for-4, two runs) each had a pair of hits. York Tech was led by Lucas Miller (3-for-4, RBI, three runs), Hunter Weibley (2-for-3, RBI, run) and Tyler Brown (2-for-4, RBI, run).

SOUTH WESTERN 15, CENTRAL YORK 3: At Central, the Panthers were plagued by nine errors in the loss. Eric Moul got the win, going six innings and allowing just two runs. He struck out three and walked two.

DALLASTOWN 21, YORK HIGH 4: At Small Field, Dallastown ripped York High pitching for 15 hits in a York-Adams Division I game that the umpires halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule. Matt Attig cracked three hits, including two triples, and drove in four runs for the Wildcats. Micah Striebig supplied three hits and three RBIs for the winners, and Rob Catchings, Zach Luman and Ryan Tracy delivered two hits apiece. Catchings drove in two runs. Roberto Rosado had two hits for York High. Nolan Tome pitched the first four innings to earn the victory. Tome's control was on point with four strikeouts and no walks. He allowed two hits, both singles.

LITTLESTOWN 7, SUS QUEHANNOCK 1: At Glen Rock, Littlestown's Ryan Kehr pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and walking none. Littlestown's Dalton Strickler went 3-for-4, including a two-run double, while George Simmons went 3-for-4. Kehr went 2-for-4.

EASTERN YORK 8, YORK SUBURBAN 4: At Suburban, Eastern plated four seventh-inning runs to break a 4-4 tie. Clayton Miller's two-run double keyed the inning. Jeremy Gottsch belted three hits for the Golden Knights. Steve Dunham got the win in relief, striking out three. Suburban hurt itself by committing six errors
