Jack Bardol is the new leader of the York-based Manufacturers' Association.

The Manchester Township business consultant was named interim executive director late last week, after Mike Smeltzer resigned from the organization after 13 years of service.

Bardol is president of Bardol & Co., which was founded in 1999 to help middle-market manufacturers, according to the company website.

Prior to starting the consulting company, Bardol worked for York International, General Signal Corp. and GT.

He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northeastern University and an MBA in finance from Suffolk University.

Bardol will be tasked with figuring out a marketing plan and determining what the next director's responsibilities will be, said John Lebo, vice president of the association's board of directors.

Meanwhile, an executive search committee will convene to fill the permanent position.

The association has about 400 members and represents more than 200 local manufacturers.
