A William Penn Senior High School graduate will make history at the 22nd annual Four Chaplains Prayer Breakfast.

Dr. Tana Freeland, a 2004 William Penn graduate, will speak at the breakfast to be held at 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Yorktowne Hotel, 48 E. Market St. in York City.

This will be the first time the event will feature a speaker who received a Four Chaplains Scholarship to continue education after high school.

Freeland is in her second year of the Wright State University Psychiatry Residency Program in Dayton, Ohio.

Event details: During the breakfast, Susan Byrnes and Cher Kondor will be presented Four Chaplains Legion of Honor membership in recognition of their efforts to develop and raise money for the Veterans Memorial Gold Star Peace and Healing Garden, which opened in 2012 at Memorial Park, 1000 Vander Ave. in York City

Breakfast participants include the Red Land High School Army JROTC and Charlie Thomas and the Drifters.

Proceeds from the breakfast go toward York City Dollars for Scholars, designated for William Penn Senior High School graduates who attended Goode school.
