The City of York, in conjunction with The York County Solid Waste Authority (YCSWA), conducts a free electronics recycling collection on the first Saturday of every month in the parking lot behind Roll'R Way at Memorial Complex , 900 S. Vander Ave. in York City.
Electronics collection will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The YCSWA also holds a collection at their site on Flour Mill Road on the third Saturday of each month that is open to all York County residents and businesses. York City residents and businesses and non-profit entities are eligible to participate in the city's event. Residents and businesses with large quantities of electronics (i.e. more than a pickup truck load) should call the city at 849-2245 before the collection date to make arrangements for delivery.
Electronic equipment accepted in this program includes answering machines, compact disc players, fax machines, computer hard drives, laptops, mobile phones, modems, microwave ovens, pagers, personal computers (CPU, monitors, keyboards, mouse, and peripherals), printers, printed circuit boards, radios, remote controls, stereos, tape players, telephones and telephone equipment, televisions, VCR's and small satellite dishes.
All cords should be wrapped securely, and items should be removed from cardboard boxes. Do not bring electric equipment such as power tools, toasters, hair dryers, curling irons, clothes irons, wall clocks, or electric razors. Do not bring items that contain freon/refrigerant such as air conditioners and dehumidifiers. Do not bring construction/demolition material, furniture, appliances, white goods or household hazardous waste.
