State Rep. Kevin Schreiber, D-York City, announced Thursday he's seeking a student from the 95th House District to participate in the Valley Forge Military College Legislative Appointment Initiative for the 2014 school year.
The appointee will receive an annual scholarship to attend the military college.
The college offers an Army ROTC Early-Commissioning Program as well as a transfer program to four-year colleges and universities throughout the country. Students are not required to join the armed forces after completing the program.
Schreiber said any student is eligible, not just those pursuing a career in the Armed Forces.
To qualify, a student must have a minimum overall grade-point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and an SAT score of 1,000 or ACT score of 21 or higher.
Candidates should be involved in extracurricular activities, demonstrate leadership ability and be service-oriented.
Students must submit a letter of intent by Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, and applications are due by Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, to Kyle Joines at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional information about the initiative, student eligibility and applications are available by contacting Schreiber's constituent service office at (717) 848-9595, or by visiting his website at www.pahouse.com/Schreiber.
