Motorists may hit heavy traffic as they drive through York County on Wednesday.
At 9 a.m., a hydroelectric turbine runner will begin its 2,073-mile trek from Weir American Hydro in Springettsbury Township to Seattle.
The 181,000-pound load may affect commuters on Stonewood Road, East Market Street, Route 24, Route 30 and Interstate 83 north.
The turbine weighs almost 90 tons and is more than 10 feet tall and 19 feet wide in diameter.
State police will stop all traffic on Route 24 as a 20-axle truck carries the turbine to the Boundary Hydroelectric Dam, which is located one mile south of the Canadian border in Washington on the Pend Oreille River.
Between Pennsylvania and Washington, the turbine will travel through Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
