State police in York County will be conducting DUI checkpoints and roving DUI patrols between Friday and March 18, according to Lt. Frederick Hess, commander of the York barracks.

Hess said the enforcement period will be "very aggressive."

The anti-DUI enforcement will focus on areas where drunken driving has traditionally been a problem, police said.

Hess urged people not to drive while intoxicated, and to either designate a sober driver or take a taxi.
