West York Police Chief Justin Seibel and officer Scott Musselman were honored Monday for their efforts to apprehend a man who allegedly kidnapped a York area real estate agent in May.
John LeCates, president of the Realtors' Association of York & Adams Counties, and the kidnapping victim, Sharron Minnich of Prudential Bob Yost Realtors, presented the certificates of appreciation during a council meeting.
Gregory Scott Knaub, 37, of no fixed address, is accused of kidnapping Minnich and forcing her to withdraw cash from an automatic teller machine after meeting her for a bogus showing at a house that was for sale in the borough.
After fleeing from police, he was arrested in a York City portion of Codorus Creek - submerged in water, holding his breath and popping his head up for air as needed.
Knaub is in York County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail, charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint, theft, receiving stolen property, false imprisonment and two counts of robbery.
