The Rotary Club of York is now accepting applications from high school students interested in participating in the yearlong Rotary Youth Exchange Program, which allows students to spend the academic year living and studying in a foreign country.
Students are selected through a written application and interview process. They are given training to deal with cultural issues and the challenges of living away from home. Students will attend high school and are taught in the language of the country.
Room and board are provided free by two or three hosting families, and students receive a small monthly allowance. Students are responsible for paying the registration fee, round trip airfare and mandatory health insurance.
For more information about spending a year abroad from August 2013 to June 2014, contact your high school guidance office or the York Rotary office at 848-1370 or email email@example.com. To be considered, you must be 16 to 18½ as of August 2013.
Deadline to apply is Oct. 8. For more information, visit www.exchangestudent.org.
