Springettsbury Township invites everyone to the Springettsbury Township Park Amphitheater for the Sounds of Summer at 7 p.m. every Wednesday and Sunday, starting Sunday and continuing through Aug. 5.

Sounds of Summer is the area's largest free concert event and includes 17 performances and an Independence Day fireworks display.

Springettsbury, along with the Art Institute of York will also host Rock the Canvas from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. Rock the Canvas will feature high energy bands, art activities for kids 12 and under, and various art demonstrations and exhibits.

The concert season begins with the Surf City All-Stars, surf and beach party band, playing the authentic "surf" sounds of the Beach Boys and others.

Tickets are not required for these free performances. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis for all events. Concessionaires will be on site with a variety of food and beverage items.
